About Department

The Berar General Education Society, Akola initially stated its faculty of Science in Sitabai Arts College with Mathematics Stream. The Biology Section was added in 1966. The faculty of science was separated as an independent Science College on 1st April 1970.

The Department of Physical Education and Sports was established with an independent Science College in 1970. In Three Cycles of NAAC Accreditation Excellent, Vibrant and Dynamic these remarks were given to department by NAAC Committee.

1. To develop the physical fitness of the student.
2. To ensure mass participation of the student.
3. To identify the sports-talent and nurture it.
4. To develop the spirit of Sportsmanship, Qualities of Leadership, Sprit of Risk-taking, Co-operative Team work with Social Aspects.
5. To make the students realize their Strength, Skills, Fitness & Alertness.
6. To arouse interest in self-defense related sports for self-defense.

Research Centre in Physical Education (Interdisciplinary Studies)

Research Centre is recognized by Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, Amravati under the faculty Inter-disciplinary Studies in the subject of Physical Education for Ph.D. Programme since session 2019-2020.  In this Research Centre following researchers were registered for Ph.D. research work under the supervision of Dr. Rajesh D. Chandrawanshi, Director of Physical Education and Sport.
