World Sparrow Day

Department of Zoology (Zebra Cell) in collaboration with IQAC of Shri R.L.T. College of Science, Akola celebrated “World Sparrow Day” on 20th March 2021.

On the occasion, an innovative virtual competition for U.G. students were conducted by Dr. Rashmi P. Joshi (Sawalkar), Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology under the able guidance of Dr. S.M. Nagrale, Associate Professor, Head, Department of Zoology and IQAC Coordinator, Dr. R. L. Rahatgaonkar. The different views on the theme “Sparrow Conservation: Today’s Need” were invited by the UG students.

About 102 participants were registered for the competition and all the registered students received Certificate of Participation after submitting the Feedback form. Out of 102 registered students, 6 participants were from other university and 3 from other colleges. The jury members selected the best three winners for 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes and one consolation prize.

The participants had given very innovative views for conservation of sparrows. All the faculty members of zoology department worked hard for the success of the event. Principal of the College Dr. V.D. Nanoty appreciated the event and said that, such activities help to create awareness in students for conserving Nature and Wild Life.

The Winners of the Competition are:
1st Winner: Samiksha Sunil Lingayat, BSc II Shri R.L.T. College of Science, Akola.
2nd Winner: Monika m. Agrawal, BSc III Shri R.L.T. College of Science, Akola.
3rd Winner: Rajashri V. Kharchewah, BSc III Shri R.L.T. College of Science, Akola.
Consolation Prize: Vishakha D. Pole, BSc III SRTMU Nanded
